Social Media Content Coordinator

CLC Space is currently recruiting a Social Media Content Coordinator to provide consultancy support at their client’s headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Provision of consultancy services in the area of social media coordination for EUMETSAT’s Strategy, Communication and International Relations Division (SCIR). The consultancy encompasses a number of activities including the provision and coordination of content for EUMETSAT’s social media channels, blogs, website and intranet, and collaboration with the organisation-wide content development community.

The Social Media Content Coordinator role also provides assistance to the Communications and Outreach Manager in realising outreach activities, including the promotion of imagery and video via online outreach channels.

An important aspect of the role will be monitoring international developments that potentially affect EUMETSAT, via web and social media, and suggesting strategic/communication responses where appropriate.

The Social Media Content Coordinator reports to the Communications and Outreach Manager.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

EUMETSAT’s website and social media channels are important portals for communication of EUMETSAT activities and serve a variety of target audiences; its intranet in turn serves as the main portal for internal communication within the organisation.

Accordingly, you will be expected to undertake the following tasks:
 Manage and moderate EUMETSAT’s online social media channels (Twitter, FaceBook, Google +);
 Develop social media plans and enact them; - Liaise with social media managers in National Meteorological Services and other relevant international organisations regarding social media initiatives;
 Write and upload content for EUMETSAT’s Learning Zone youth education site and Science Blog;
 Write, develop and upload content, for example press releases, within the SCIR Information Area (IA) of the web site;
 Publish and maintain static content within the SCIR area of the intranet;
 Act as back-up for other web site and intranet content publishers within SCIR;
 Support social media/web content-specific tasks during key EUMETSAT activities (launches, events, etc.);
 Participate in the development of effective content management procedures and documentation for web site and intranet;
 Monitor external news/policy developments relevant for EUMETSAT’s strategy, via web and social media, and suggest strategic/communication responses where appropriate.

In the performance of these tasks, you shall apply the relevant EUMETSAT organisational and programmatic quality management procedures, including the relevant working practices and procedures with special focus on the corporate document management system and branding guidelines.

YOUR PROFILE

You will need to demonstrate:
I. A thorough understanding and practical experience of the following:
a. Online social media services (such as Twitter, FaceBook, Flickr, YouTube, etc.);
b. Writing for the web;
c. Web content layout and imagery selection;
d. Content Management Systems (such as Oracle UCM);
e. Web content delivery methods and standards; f. International policy development and analysis

II. Thorough knowledge of the following software:
a. Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop, Illustrator & Dreamweaver) ;
b. Knowledge of the following products would be considered and advantage: Adobe Flash, Adobe Premiere Pro, professional sound and video compression tools (e.g. Sony SoundForge, Sorenson Squeeze) and methods.

III. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for this position is English and therefore the key person must be able to work effectively in this language, especially as far as written skills are concerned and have knowledge of the other.

IV. Excellent written and interpersonal skills.
You will have at least two years working experience in social media content coordination. Previous experience writing about scientific/technology subjects would be considered advantageous, as well as experience monitoring new policy/international relations developments for strategic/communication purposes.

A relevant university degree would also be considered an advantage.

You are required to work independently with the minimum of supervision but able to refer to the EUMETSAT points of contact when necessary. You shall be task-driven, responsive and self-motivated. A largely self-managed person, you shall have excellent communication skills and be used to working towards high standards.
