Senior Graphic Designer

CLC Space is currently recruiting a Senior Graphic Designer to provide support at their client’s headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany.

JOB DESCRIPTION
A Senior Graphic Designer is required to support the SCIR Division for all stages of the graphic design process, from gathering the design brief, to concept development and presentation, design development and final production. This is needed for a broad range of branding and graphic design related visual communications material for EUMETSAT.

The tasks will be carried out at our client’s facilities in Darmstadt.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
All tasks and deliverables will be identified in half-yearly work packages to be discussed between the EUMETSAT Technical Officer and the Senior Graphic Designer on each occasion.

The following task areas will need to be handled:
1) Requirements gathering – To attend kick-off/briefing meetings to gather/discuss
information on the scope of new projects, including information on key messages, target
audiences and expected outcomes. This will include identifying subject-matter experts the
design team can liaise with where relevant.

2) Concept Development – To develop concept designs/layouts for brochures, events,
campaigns and other design/brand-related material based on the brief/project requirements
and in accordance with the EUMETSAT Brand Guidelines. This will include the
development of concepts for new conference and campaign branding (to include event logo,
signage, promotional materials, presentation styles, etc.), brochure layout/designs,
display/exhibition graphics, signage and environmental design of EUMETSAT
buildings/facilities, posters, invitation cards and various communication material for
print/electronic distribution.

3) Presentation – To present design concepts within the SCIR Division and to other
EUMETSAT employees, including high-level management and to capture their feedback for
further development of the selected design.

4) Design Development – To develop a selected design for all required materials based on
feedback, final written and visual content requirements, and in adherence to the EUMETSAT
brand guidelines. This support will involve the coordination of various simultaneous projects
and their delivery on time and in the required quality.

5) Artwork Production - To finalise the artwork for all developed design material to the
required print/electronic quality, including the production of computer-generated graphics
and diagrams for print, electronic and direct computer use. This will include the development
and/or amendment of graphic diagrams, layout design, typesetting, and delivery of final
electronic files for printing and publication online.

6) Brand Development - To contribute to the maintenance and evolution of the EUMETSAT
brand, as well as campaign, event and partnership branding, ensuring that the guidelines
reflect the most recent branding practices.
7) Electronic Image Storage and Distribution – To ensure all new images are uploaded to the
EUMETSAT image management system (celum IMAGINE) on a regular basis and key worded accordingly.
To supply internal and external users with electronic files of assorted imagery, design elements, graphics/illustrations, and logo files if and when requested.

8) In addition, the Senior Graphic Designer may be required to provide special expertise and
support whenever asked to do so by the Technical Officer.

YOUR PROFILE
The Senior Graphic Designer shall have the following mandatory skills/experience:
• A recognised qualification in graphic design or visual communications;
• a minimum of five years professional experience in a senior graphic designer role;
• fluency in verbal and written English;
• experience of the complete cycle of designing and developing concept-driven brand
• campaigns across a wide range of media (print, electronic, exhibition, display, etc),
• preferably with technical/scientific content;
• Knowledge and practical experience of the graphic design artwork/production process;
• Interpersonal skills to handle a wide variety of internal and external customers;
• Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) software on Apple OS and Windows.
• The following skills/experience would also be a distinct advantage:
• Experience in presenting/pitching design concepts to senior management;
• Experience of working independently on design projects from start to finish;
• Experience of working within a team for larger projects;
• Experience of working on technically or scientifically challenging projects in an
• international organisation;
• An interest in photography and video production.
