Quality Assurance Consultant for EPS-SG

CLC Space is currently recruiting a Quality Assurance (QA) consultant to provide consultancy support on the EPS-SG Programme at their client’s headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany.

JOB DESCRIPTION

To provide consultancy support on the EPS-SG Programme within the Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Division at EUMETSAT.
The activities, which the LEO Division lead, started with the Phase B of the LEO programmes of EUMETSAT and will end with the entry into routine operations service of the Programme. The handover takes place after the full system has been established in its main. in orbit and on ground components, and has been verified and validated against its specified configuration. You will be involved in the EPS-SG programme currently completing Phase B.

The tasks will be carried out mainly at EUMETSAT facilities in Darmstadt Travel, mainly within Europe, is expected.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

EUMETSAT QA Engineers are deployed as integrated support to the various programmes, but belong to the PRS division which is part of the TSS Directorate.
You will provide consultancy to the EPS-SG QA Team which provides support to the EPS-SG Programme. More particularly you will perform QA activities related the EPS-SG Programme in the following areas:
• System Integration and Validation (SIVV);
• Operations Preparation;
• Launch and Early Orbit Phase (LEOP).
• The tasks shall include the following:
• Implement EUMETSAT QA policies in the assigned areas, in accordance with the Programme specific QA plan for all phases covered by this consultancy more specifically:
- Implement the EPS-SG QA plan for the management of the activities in the assigned area of responsibility, and propose updates as appropriater;
- Define and maintain QA procedures for Phase C/D, in the assigned area of responsibility;
- Ensure the correct implementation of the relevant processes in the assigned area of responsibility.
• Ensure that the baseline definition of the System Requirement Document (including management of Change Requests, Change Proposals, Requests for Waiver / Deviation, preparation of Change Control Board meetings, etc.) is properly defined and controlled in its evolutions;
• Organise and support the Anomalies Review Boards (ARB) and Non-conformances Review Boards (NRB);
• Analyse and report to the QA LEO Manager on QA critical issues, proposing and following up preventive and recovery actions;
• Provide QA consultancy for the Risk Management activities in line with the EPS-SG Risk Management Plan and PRD arrangements, organising risk sessions, maintaining the Risk Register in the assigned area of responsibility, following up associated actions and proposing updates to the Risk Management Plan as necessary;
• Support the definition and regular monitoring of established metrics on the main processes within the assigned area of responsibility;
• Follow the activities in the assigned area of responsibility liaising with the LEOP suppliers’ QA office, agreeing QA processes, reviewing QA aspects of deliveries, attending progress meetings as relevant and identifying areas of concern pertaining to QA;
• Review (and contribute to as required), from a QA perspective, the documents produced by EUMETSAT contractors and by the EUMETSAT EPS-SG team;
• Organise project reviews related to the EPS-SG in the assigned area of responsibility according to the prescribed processes, also acting as Review Secretary as required;
• Support QA audits performed by EUMETSAT, as required
• Provide QA consultancy for the implementation of Configuration Management processes in the assigned area of responsibility.

YOUR PROFILE

You are required to have the experience and capability to fulfil the assigned tasks autonomously and without supervision.
You shall have, as a pre-requisite, a background of at least 5 years in space systems activities, with focus on the following areas:
• System Integration and Validation (SIVV);
• Operations Preparation;
• Launch and Early Orbit Phase (LEOP); and shall have at least 3 years of continuous experience in project QA positions.

You shall have a university degree; specific technical knowledge in the areas mentioned above will be an asset.
In detail, you are expected to demonstrate:
• Good knowledge of ISO standards
• Good knowledge of ECSS standards;
• Sound hands-on experience in QA processes definition, implementation, monitoring and control;
• Sound hands-on experience in risks management and lessons learned processes;
• Sound experience in a rational application of international quality standards;
• Sound hands-on experience in managing, reporting and following-up of procured items
• Knowledge of project management and project planning, including the ability to identify and report on critical paths;
• Knowledge of requirements management tools, e.g. DOORS;
• Ability to draft management reports and executive summaries in English;
• Sound hands-on experience of working on collaborative programmes between different partners;
• Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (including Microsoft Access);
• Good interpersonal skills, including mediation skills;
• Very good attitude to working in a team.

The official languages are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore you must be able to work effectively in this language.
