Multi Mission Dissemination Service Upgrade Engineer

CLC Space is currently recruiting a Multi Mission Dissemination Service Upgrade Engineer to provide consultancy support at their client’s headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany.

JOB DESCRIPTION

To provide consultancy support to the Multi Mission Elements (MME) Upgrade Team. The Multi-Mission Elements (MME) Upgrade Team within the GSI Division is responsible for the upgrade of the MME services for future programmes. The MME services encompass Monitoring, Dissemination, Infrastructure and Data Access Services.

You shall work on the ground segment requirements analysis, services definitions, architectural design, requirements implementation, verification and validation of the MME parts of future Ground Segments. The duties range from analysis and design to testing of the MME Dissemination services.

The tasks will be carried out at our client’s facilities in Darmstadt.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The tasks will include:
 Requirements analysis of programme requirements (not related to the Ground Segments ITT requirements) against the MMEs;
 Generation of services definitions, compliance matrices, design justification, verification plans/test cases and procedures and verification control documents;
 Support to Analysis and evolution of current System Design to enhance the Dissemination Services so as to meet programmes requirements;
 Definition and maintenance of MME Dissemination Services related Interface Control Documents (ICDs);
 Preparation of test specifications for Verifying MME Dissemination services;
 Support to Ground Segment reviews (excluding access to financial data and schedule margins);
 Support to Ground Segment Integration, Verification and Validation (IV&V) tests for the MME Dissemination services.
 Participation in any necessary meetings and reviews;
 Support to Projects with the need of dissemination expertises;
 Coordination of Dissemination activities and reporting of status and actions.

In the performance of these tasks, you shall apply the EUMETSAT configuration and change control procedures as well as the relevant system engineering standards, quality management procedures and maintenance procedures.

YOUR PROFILE

MANDATORY SKILLS:
You shall have the following experience and background:
• University degree (or equivalent) in the domain of engineering or computer sciences;
• At least 5 years’ experience of data dissemination systems development/upgrades, from the definition of requirements to design, development, integration to verification and validation testing;
• System Engineering / AIT experience for the development of major upgrades / new ground segments for dissemination systems in a 24/7 operational environment;
• At least 5 years working experience in the field of data dissemination systems;
• Definition and formalization of interfaces between complex systems;
• Standard Communication protocols, data exchange protocols, data compression schemes.

DESIRABLE (BUT NOT MANDATORY) ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
• Definition, management and traceability of requirements structure with the support of dedicated tools (e.g. DOORS);
• Service based approach for defining system specifications;
• Configuration Control processes and tools;
• Background in hardware and software aspects of computer systems;
• Experience with satellite data transport standards (e.g. DVB, CCSDS).

You shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work without supervision.

Due to the nature of the position, you shall have good interpersonal skills and proactive attitude with strong ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.

The official languages of are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore you must be able to work effectively in this language and have knowledge of the other.
