MTG Verification Engineer

CLC Space is currently recruiting an MTG Verification Engineer to provide consultancy support at their client’s headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany.

JOB DESCRIPTION

To provide consultancy to EUMETSAT’s Meteosat Third Generation (MTG) Verification Engineering activities, including the verification tools development and daily usage based on IBM Rational DOORS®

Your tasks will be carried out at the EUMETSAT facilities in Darmstadt. Travel within Europe may be required for certain tasks, and you shall be therefore available to attend, on a short notice, reviews and progress meetings held outside EUMETSAT premises.

In specific phases of the MTG programme, tasks may require on-call support and/or weekend work on a rare occasion. Requests for such work will always be minimised where possible, and will always be agreed in advance.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Your general task shall be the provision of advice and engineering consultancy to the MTG System & GS Requirements Verification Engineering in the frame of the Phase C/D of the MTG Programme.

It is expected that the tasks will include as a minimum:
Contribution to the preparation, execution and reporting of the MTG requirements verification engineering activities, including:
o Support the refinement of the pre-launch system verification strategy at the level of individual requirements with the elaboration of the Initial Verification Control Document (VCD) at System and Ground Segment levels, ensuring the consistency of the verification approach with lower levels using the traceability of requirements;
o Perform the progressive establishment of the MTG verification status for each requirement, maintaining the verification status of the System and Ground Segment levels in close-coordination with the status of the lower levels;
o Review the VCDs produced at lower levels and report on inconsistencies then ingest them in the upper level VCDs;
o Contribute to the generation of the Verification Control Document (VCD) and associated verification reports in-line with the results of the Detailed Design Phase and the results of the of the testing execution;
o Contribute to the definition of the test scenarios and tests specifications regarding the list of requirements to be verified by testing in-line with VCD;
o Prepare inputs to Verification Control Boards (VCB) and other ad’hoc meetings as requested;
o Generate periodic reports with quantitative metrics and indicators on the status of verification of the whole system and alert on the outcome of those.

The set-up and maintenance of the verification support tools necessary in support to the verification control activity in DOORS in coordination with the DOORS maintenance & administration team including:
o the set-up and maintenance of the tool for the generation of the initial and final VCD in DOORS and its daily administration, with the development of ad’hoc DXL scripts and views required for the execution of the verification control in DOORS;
o the tools for the ingestion into EUMETSAT DOORS database of external VCD as delivered from the contractor.

The tasks assigned shall be agreed through dedicated work-packages with clear identification of activities and outputs required.
In the performance of these tasks, you shall apply the relevant organisational and programmatic quality management procedures as well as the relevant system engineering standards.

YOUR PROFILE

You shall have a university degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline relevant to the job profile together with the experience and capability to fulfil the assigned tasks without supervision. You shall have, as a pre-requisite, a demonstrated experience in a similar function for at least 5 years.

This experience shall include in particular:
• Past System Engineering working experience in the development of a Space System with characteristics and complexity similar to the complexity of MTG System, - including in particular experience during Phases C/D/E1;
• Experience in the preparation and in the execution of the integration and verification of a Space System (Spacecraft, Ground Segment or full System): including the generation of tests specifications and procedures, the execution and reporting of these tests and the definition of the verification status of all associated requirements;
• Knowledge of verification and testing standards and in particular of the ECSS standards
• Experience in verification engineering including the management of the traceability of requirements and the management of their formal verification status;
• Proven experience of DOORS utilisation for requirements and verification management as well as knowledge of DOORS administration and programming with DXL scripts.

In addition, the knowledge and experience of the following would also be considered an advantage:
• Experience in requirements engineering including the management of the traceability of requirements;

The key person shall also possess the following skills and behavioural aspects:
• Sound management and interpersonal skills to conduct the responsibilities described above autonomously yet within a good team spirit;
• Excellent quality orientation skills, applying a strong sense of rigorousness and precision in the execution of his work;
• Good oral and written communications skills, as well as good analytical capabilities, enabling you to present articulated views, opinions and recommendations.

The official languages are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the consultant must be able to work effectively in this language and have knowledge of the other.
