CLC Space is currently recruiting two Reprocessing Engineers to provide consultancy support for the Copernicus Climate Change Service C3S at their client’s headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany.

JOB DESCRIPTION
You will support the Climate Service team within the Users Support and Climate Service Division at EUMETSAT. Your responsibilities will cover the set up, implementation and verification of the processing software and chains used to generate several multi-decadal climate data records from data from satellites in geostationary and polar orbit using EUMETSAT’s reprocessing environment.

In addition, you shall support quality evaluation and the distribution of data to the C3S Climate Data Store (CDS) as well as the compilation of relevant technical documentation including user guides and format descriptions. The tasks are carried out in close co-operation with the C3S global reanalysis team at ECMWF and relevant other teams at EUMETSAT, in particular in the System Engineering and Projects Divisions.

The tasks will be carried out mainly at our client’s facilities in Darmstadt, but travel within Europe may be required for certain activities.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The tasks will include:
• Implementation, maintenance and operation of: - data processing systems (operational processors and processing chains) for the generation of climate data records for C3S that can handle data from satellites in geostationary and polar orbit; - automated climate product quality monitoring/validation tools taking benefit of existing operational tools; - data bases used for the data record generation and product monitoring/validation;
• Test, verification and validation of operational processors and processing chains implemented in the operational climate data processing infrastructure;
• Porting of prototype software, e.g., from IDL into C++/Fortran or Python;
• Acquisition of relevant data from internal and external sources to support product quality monitoring;
• Support to the analysis of the data record quality employing quality monitoring procedures and other validation techniques and data as appropriate;
• Preparation of data records for the submission to the C3S CDS and ingestion into the EUMETSAT Data Centre;
• Compilation of technical documentation of the operational processors, processing chains and data formats.

YOUR PROFILE
You shall have a University degree in a relevant computer or natural science subject. You shall have in-depth knowledge and proven experience in:
